July 17, 2025

The Board of Directors of AFP Quebec is proud to announce the appointment of Sean Zikman as president-elect. His term will begin on July 1, 2025, and he will assume the presidency on January 1, 2027, for a one-year term—a first for our chapter, which is now aligned with the practice of the other chapters.

Over the next 18 months, Sean will work in close collaboration with the current president to ensure a smooth transfer of knowledge and continuity of the organization’s major files.  With more than 25 years of experience in #philanthropy under his belt, Sean has been the director of philanthropy at the Habilitas Foundation—the official foundation of the  Lethbridge-Layton-Mackay Rehabilitation Centre, Camp Massawippi and the Action Centre—for 18 years. He served on AFP Quebec’s Board from 2004 to 2007, then again since 2021. He has also been a mentor since 2019 and was actively involved on several committees, including government relations, mentorship, governance and scholarships. He also contributed to organizing the Canadian retreat reception in Montreal in 2022.

His commitment, leadership and knowledge of the sector make him the ideal candidate to take over the presidency.

When his appointment was announced, Sean shared this reflection:

Our mission in philanthropy is to contribute to a better world. In the context of major upheavals, the role of our association is more critical than ever. As president-elect, I’d like to strengthen our community’s involvement, because this chapter belongs to all of us.

Congratulations, Sean, and welcome to your new role!
