AFP Quebec offers a variety of scholarship programs and professional development opportunities.

AFP members can also be eligible for other AFP Canada, AFP Global or AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada scholarships or professional development programs (e.g., scholarships for the Toronto Congress, Fellowship in Inclusion and Philanthropy, etc.). ***New in 2023*** AFP LEAD SCHOLARSHIPS

AFP Quebec Chapter is offering 3 bursaries to attend LEAD, AFP’s annual leadership conference. LEAD will take place on October 19-22, 2023 in Philadelphia, PA. Each scholarship is worth approximately $2,265 and will be used to cover the registration fee ($799 US), with an additional $1,200 to defray a portion of lodging and transportation fees.

All applications must be received by July 28, 2023, and winners will be announced later that month.

MEMBERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS

AFP Quebec understands the economic challenges that current and prospective members face and is pleased to offer our support via our annual membership scholarship program. The goal of this program is to recruit new members and retain existing members who are unable to afford annual membership dues due to personal and/or professional circumstances.

AFP-Quebec has available 10 scholarships (double our 2021 offering!) to cover the full cost ($335) of an annual membership to AFP. The scholarships are available to both current and new members, with preference given to those with demonstrated financial need.

All applications must be received by August 1, 2022 and awardees will be announced by the end of August.

FUNDAMENTALS OF FUNDRAISING COURSE SCHOLARSHIP

The French course will take place on June 1 and 2, 2023.

AFP Quebec is proud to offer 6 scholarships of $250 each to reduce the costs of participating in The Fundamentals of Fundraising Course, offered annually. Please apply no later than April 28, 2023.

TORONTO CONGRESS BURSARY

AFP Quebec Chapter is offering a bursary to attend Toronto’s Congress, WORK YOUR PURPOSE on November 7-8, 2022. In doing so, AFP Quebec Chapter wishes to encourage the development of fundraising professionals in their field.

The bursary is worth $1,000. One bursary will be awarded to attend the congress in person. This will cover your registration fees, as well as part of your lodging and transportation fees.

  • Must be a member of AFP Quebec Chapter.
  • Must be a volunteer or employee for a charitable organization, and a major part of his/her time should be dedicated to fundraising.
  • Selected candidates must pledge to attend the Toronto Congress, write an article about his/her experience, and send it to AFP Quebec Chapter. Selected candidate also agree that the article be posted on the AFP Quebec Chapter website and social network.

YEAR-LONG EDUCATION FUND SCHOLARSHIP

AFP-Quebec is pleased to once again announce the launch of our Year-Long Education Fund Scholarships: 8 scholarships of $200 each that can be used towards any AFP-Quebec workshop, event or course in 2023. New for 2023: With presentation of your proof of registration, your scholarship can also be applied to fundraising trainings offered by other organizations.

Scholarships will be given in preference to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to AFP’s IDEA principles and/or who express an interest in taking on a leadership role in the non-profit sector.

All applications must be received by Febrary 7, 2023, 5 p.m. and awardees will be announced in February.

CFRE REFRESHER COURSE SCHOLARSHIP

The course will take place on October 3-4 and 5, 2023.

AFP Quebec is proud to offer 2 scholarships of $390 each to participate in the CFRE Refresher Course.

CHAMBERLAIN SCHOLARSHIP

The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy is proud to announce that it will once again be offering the Chamberlain Scholarship, allowing a member from the Quebec Chapter to participate in the International Conference, which will be held from April 16 – 18, 2023, in New Orleans. This is designed to give individuals working in nonprofit organizations the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in fundraising. The Scholarship covers registration fees, minus a $10 processing fee. In addition, the Quebec Chapter will offer an extra amount of $1,200 to cover part of travel and accommodation costs.

The Chamberlain Scholarship Program honors Ralph Chamberlain for his commitment to the fundraising profession.

Selection criteria
  • Candidate must be a member of the AFP Quebec Chapter.
  • Candidate has been employed as a fundraising professional for 3 years or more. If the candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising.
  • Candidate has never attended an AFP or NSFRE International Conference on Fundraising as a registered participant (unless has been a member of the Conference Host Committee) and is enthusiastic to attend the full conference as scheduled.
  • Following the conference, the candidate must agree to complete an online evaluation form  and commit to writing an article about his/her experience and send it to  AFP–Quebec chapter. The selected candidate agrees that the article be posted on the AFP-Quebec Chapter website and social media sites.

FELLOWSHIP FOR FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS

This fellowship has been made possible in part by AFP Foundation for Philanthropy- Canada, donors of the Every Member Campaign

AFP-Quebec is proud to announce the launch of the 2023 fellowship program! The AFP-Qc Fellowship Program provides our community of fundraisers across the province with access to a well-rounded curriculum of educational and engagement opportunities to help take their professional practice to the next level.

Whether you’re a seasoned professional in the sector, or new to the field, the AFP-Quebec Fellowship Program provides four annual recipients with the funding, experiences and opportunities outlined below.

AFP – Quebec Fellowship for Fundraising Professionals (2), value of $590 each, includes:

  • Paid membership to AFP Global including Quebec Chapter dues – value of $340
  • Registration for 3 local AFP-Qc educational sessions of your choosing – value of $150
  • Complimentary seat at NPD Luncheon 2023 – value of $100

AFP – Quebec Small Shop Fellowship for Fundraising Professionals (2), value of $590 each, includes:

All the benefits and requirements of the AFP-Quebec Fellowship, however is offered exclusively to those who are full-time employees at a ‘small shop’. Small shop is being defined as a team of less than five full-time staff and annual operating revenue of under $1 million.

  • Agree to be featured in AFP publications and on our website
  • Participate in at least one of the two annual networking events

**NEW IN 2022** IDEA SCHOLARSHIP (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access)

AFP Quebec attaches great importance to the values conveyed by the IDEA principles (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access). Like AFP’s Canadian Foundation for Philanthropy, which recognized that it had a responsibility to make efforts to bring about systemic change in the sector, AFP Quebec has created a comprehensive program of education, support, as well as opportunities for involvement to bring the practice of professionals from diverse backgrounds to a higher level.

Nominations must be supported by a member of the AFP Quebec Board of Directors. All applications must be received by August 22, 2022. 5 p.m. The scholarship recipient will be notified at the beginning of September.

The IDEA scholarship has a value of $965 and includes:

  • Membership of AFP Global including the dues of the Quebec section (value of $335)
  • Registration for the ethics education session ($35 value)
  • Registration for the National Philanthropy Day Celebration (value of $100)
  • Registration for the Fundamentals of fundraising course (value of $495)
