FAQ
Can I get together with others to watch the documentary in the same space?
Of course! In fact, that’s even better. We think that this documentary could generate some important and interesting conversations and this way it will benefit a greater number of people. So, don’t hesitate to bring together your teams, your Board members or even your donors to have an honest conversation and take stock of the perceptions of the philanthropic community.
Is the documentary available in French?
Unfortunately, the documentary is only available in English and has no subtitles. We have to work with what the distributor has made available. However, you can watch the TED Talk with Dan Pallotta, which has French subtitles, at the following link: https://www.ted.com/talks/dan_pallotta_the_way_we_think_about_charity_is_dead_wrong?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare.
Does the AFP share the opinions expressed in the documentary?
Yes and no. Certain elements certainly align with our perspective while others are less relevant to our reality in Quebec and in Canada. We invite you to pursue your reflection on this issue by reading the AFP’s Narrative for Canadian Fundraising at the following link: https://afpglobal.org/narrativecanadianfundraising.
Why are you offering it for free now when there was a charge to watch it on October 25?
At that time, remote access was not offered in order to encourage people to come out and see it in the theatre. However, since there are no other screenings planned in Quebec, we talked to the distribution team and can now offer a remote option to members. Also, the $40 charge covered the theatre ticket, a combo in the food court and a panel.
