AFP Quebec offers a variety of scholarship programs and professional development opportunities.

AFP members can also be eligible for other AFP Canada, AFP Global or AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada scholarships or professional development programs (e.g., scholarships for the Toronto Congress, Fellowship in Inclusion and Philanthropy, etc.). To make sure you don’t miss an opportunity, make sure you are receiving our emails.

General Rule

Multiple individuals from the same organization may apply for the same scholarship. However, only one individual per organization may be selected as a recipient of each scholarship in any given year. As a result, multiple individuals from the same organization may receive a scholarship in the same year, provided that they are different scholarships.

AFP LEAD SCHOLARSHIPS

AFP Quebec Chapter is offering a bursary to attend LEAD, AFP’s annual leadership conference. LEAD will take place on October 22-24, 202 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The scholarship is worth $2,600 and will be used to cover the $999 US registration fee, as well as a portion of lodging and transportation costs.

All applications must be received by August 18, 2026, and the winner will be announced early September.

MEMBERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS

AFP Québec understands the financial challenges faced by current and prospective members and is pleased to offer support through its annual Membership Scholarship Program. The goal of this program is to recruit new members and retain existing ones who are unable to pay the annual membership fee due to personal and/or professional circumstances.

A total of 20 scholarships will be awarded:

  • 15 will be reserved for individuals who have never been members of AFP

  • 5 will be available for new members or membership renewals from small organizations (with fewer than 5 full-time fundraising staff and operating expenses under $1 million)

Each scholarship covers the $395 cost of an annual AFP Québec membership, with priority given to applicants who demonstrate financial need.

All applications must be received by April 10, 2026, and the selected recipients will be announced toward the end of September.

FUNDAMENTALS OF FUNDRAISING COURSE SCHOLARSHIP

The French  course will take place on May 28-29, 2026 in Montreal et on June 11-12, 2026 in Quebec City.

AFP Quebec is proud to offer 12 scholarships of $250 each to reduce the costs of participating in The Fundamentals of Fundraising Course, offered annually. Please apply no later than April 30, 2026.

TORONTO CONGRESS BURSARY

AFP Quebec Chapter is offering a bursary to attend Toronto’s Congress, WORK YOUR PURPOSE on November 7-8, 2022. In doing so, AFP Quebec Chapter wishes to encourage the development of fundraising professionals in their field.

The bursary is worth $1,000. One bursary will be awarded to attend the congress in person. This will cover your registration fees, as well as part of your lodging and transportation fees.

  • Selected candidates must pledge to attend the Toronto Congress, write an article about his/her experience, and send it to AFP Quebec Chapter. Selected candidate also agree that the article be posted on the AFP Quebec Chapter website and social network;
  • Candidate must not have received the same scholarship the year before the application.

YEAR-LONG EDUCATION FUND SCHOLARSHIP

AFP-Quebec is pleased to once again announce the launch of our Year-Long Education Fund Scholarships: 6 scholarships of $250 each that can be used towards any AFP-Quebec workshop, event or course in 2025. New since 2023: With presentation of your proof of registration, your scholarship can also be applied to fundraising trainings offered by other organizations.

Scholarships will be given in preference to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to AFP’s IDEA principles and/or who express an interest in taking on a leadership role in the non-profit sector.

All applications must be received by December 5, 2025, 5 p.m. and awardees will be announced in December.

CFRE REFRESHER COURSE SCHOLARSHIP

The course will take place on October 3-4 and 5, 2023.

AFP Quebec is proud to offer 2 scholarships of $390 each to participate in the CFRE Refresher Course.

CHAMBERLAIN SCHOLARSHIP AND ICON SCHOLARSHIPS

The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy is proud to announce that it will once again be offering the Chamberlain Scholarship, allowing a member from the Quebec Chapter to participate in the International Conference (ICON), which will be held from April 26 – 28, 2026, in San Diego. This is designed to give individuals working in nonprofit organizations the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in fundraising. The Scholarship covers registration fees, minus a $10 processing fee. The Quebec Chapter will offer an extra amount of $1,200 to cover part of travel and accommodation costs.

In addition, AFP Quebec is offering 2 other bursaries to attend the AFP International Conference, including registration (valued at $999 US) and $1,200 CND to cover part of travel and accommodation costs.

The Chamberlain Scholarship Program honors Ralph Chamberlain for his commitment to the fundraising profession.

Selection criteria
  • The candidate must be a member of the AFP Quebec chapter.
  • The candidate has been employed as a fundraising professional for 3 years or more. If the candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising.
  • The candidate agrees to attend the entire conference;
  • One scholarship is reserved for a candidate who has never attented an AFP or NSFRE International Conference on Fundraising (unless he or she has served as a member of the host committee). Other bursaries will preferably be awarded to first-time attendees of the AFP international conference.
  • Following the conference, the candidate must agree to complete an online evaluation form  and commit to writing an article about his/her experience and send it to  AFP Quebec chapter. The selected candidate agrees that the article be posted on the AFP-Quebec Chapter website and social media sites.

FELLOWSHIP FOR FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS

This fellowship is funded in part through member support of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy’s Every Member Campaign.

AFP-Quebec is proud to announce the launch of the 2026 fellowship program! The AFP-Qc Fellowship Program provides our community of fundraisers across the province with access to a well-rounded curriculum of educational and engagement opportunities to help take their professional practice to the next level.

Whether you’re a seasoned professional in the sector, or new to the field, the AFP-Quebec Fellowship Program provides four annual recipients with the funding, experiences and opportunities outlined below.

AFP – Quebec Fellowship for Fundraising Professionals (7), value of $675 each, includes:

  • Paid membership to AFP Global including Quebec Chapter dues – value of $395
  • Registration for 3 local AFP-Qc educational sessions of your choosing 
  • Complimentary seat at 2026 NPD Celebration – value of $175
  • Registration for the PhiLab École d’automne

As part of this program, special consideration will be given to applications from small organizations during the review process. Small organizations are defined as having fewer than five full-time employees and annual operating revenues of less than one million dollars.

Obligations of the recipient

Selected candidates must fulfill the following requirements during their fellowship year:

  • Participate in the AFP Quebec Chapter mentorship program
  • Volunteer on a committee or at an AFP Quebec Chapter event
  • Write a report on their fellowship experience
  • Agree to be featured in AFP publications and on our website
  • Participate in at least one annual networking events

IDEA SCHOLARSHIP (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access)

AFP Quebec attaches great importance to the values conveyed by the IDEA principles (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access). Like AFP’s Canadian Foundation for Philanthropy, which recognized that it had a responsibility to make efforts to bring about systemic change in the sector, AFP Quebec has created a comprehensive program of education, support, as well as opportunities for involvement to bring the practice of professionals from diverse backgrounds to a higher level.

All applications must be received before August 28, 2026, 5 p.m.. Scholarship-winners will be informed in September and will have free entry to the National Philanthropy Day activities on November 11, 2026, at the Centre Mont-Royal.
